Reasons Why You are Feeling Unhappy and Unsatisfied

Here are the common reasons why you feel unhappy and unsatisfied.

1. Insecurities

Everyone may feel insecure once in a while. People try to compare themselves with others, and they think that the other person is better than they are. This behavior may cause a person to feel unsatisfied about themselves.

Younger people may need attention to secure their feelings to avoid getting insecure. Family and friends can help to give advice and moral support. And as you age, it is easier to handle insecurity. When you become older, maturity helps in developing self-acceptance and loving yourself as you are. It also helps that you continuously improve yourself to avoid unwanted negative feelings towards yourself and feeling unhappy.

2. Living in the past

Bad memories can cause a person to suffer from sadness. Broken relationships, loss of a family member, misunderstandings, or bad experiences in life may result in negative thoughts and make you feel sad.

It is best to practice letting go of negative thoughts and move on from what happened. This way, you won’t have grudges, and it will be easy for you to recover. Accept that there are things you can’t change anymore and better prepare yourself for the future so these events won’t happen again.

3. Low self-esteem

Self-esteem is an individual’s overall perspective of themselves. When a person has low self-esteem, they suffer from self-doubt and refuse to express what they feel. It may cause sadness, and worse, depression.

To overcome low self-esteem, you must surround yourself with people who have positive effects on your life. Get to know more about yourself, your weaknesses, and strength. So you can find where do you need to improve. Stop comparing yourself to others. Believe that everyone is different from one another.

4. Discontentment

Discontentment or dissatisfaction is the feeling or desire for something more. It could be the result of the influence of other people, or what you may have seen from others that you don’t have. You may feel unhappy even after getting these things because this is only to impress other people.

Living a simple life and prioritize what is needed can help fight discontentment. Being grateful for what you have can also help. Avoid also getting jealous of other people for what they have. Remind yourself that you may not have everything that you want, but you have everything that you need.

5. Anxiety

Anxiety can be caused by excessive stress, worrying, fear, and medical history. Stress from work, school, or personal relationships can affect a person and result in anxiety. Suffering from anxiety may lead to depression. Excessive worrying and fear can be traumatic to a person and cause anxiety. People who have family members that are suffering from anxiety are most likely to have one. Medical conditions may trigger anxiety due to the changes in their body hormones.

Find ways that can help you relax to avoid anxiety. Talk to your families and friends. Seek help from professionals if needed. Try to do fun activities, exercises, or sport to divert your mind from negative thinking.

6. Anger

Anger is a natural emotion of a person who feels that someone or something has done wrong towards them. People handle this emotion in different ways. Some people can control their feelings and manage not to show their anger. But some people need to express how they feel that may lead to aggressiveness, for them to get relieved.

Take time to listen and talk to people to sort out misunderstandings. Do not get affected by your anger, and chose to remain calm and in control at all times. Give yourself time and space to process your feelings and control your anger.

7. Expectations

High expectations may lead to disappointments. And disappointments can cause sadness. Most people always hope for the best and are not prepared for the worst scenarios.

When taking chances, learn to prepare yourself for any possible outcome. Expect the worst, and learn from the experience. Use this as a guide and motivation to do better next time. Don’t let mistakes and failures stop you from achieving what you want and being happy.

8. Pessimistic

Pessimistic is a tendency to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen. A pessimist believes that the bad outweighs the good. Traumatic experiences can cause a person to become pessimistic. A pessimist believes that bad things will result if the same situation happens again to avoid feeling disappointed for the same reason.

To avoid being pessimistic, learn to build trust with people surrounding you. It could help you be more positive with your environment and yourself. Build your confidence and believe in yourself so you can have the strength to do things that scares you the most. Learn from bad experiences, and hope that it won’t happen again.

Understand your emotions.

Acknowledging that you are feeling unhappy and unsatisfied can help you find the reason you feel that way.

Do not ignore the symptoms to avoid more problems. Talk about your feelings and experiences. Help yourself to process your emotions for you to know how to manage and control it.
